My sister does a pretty cool rotation. Ten toys are out at any one time. At the end of the week, if her kids reached enough of their goals(they are 5 and 7, so that includes clean their room, brush teeth everyday, and not hit each other), they get to rotate two toys out and two new toys in. If they have been particularly bad (say, received a red light at school), they only rotate out two toys. I really need to start that with Ander (without the consequence at this point, of course, but just keep ten toys out and change about two of them each week).Giftie Etceterahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11353862141419399333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95933711137931634.post-66169085417191555872007-04-29T13:08:00.000-06:002007-04-29T13:08:00.000-06:00Too many toys. I culled all the 'little baby' toys and divided all the age-appropriate stuff (except books and puzzles) into 5 paper-ream boxes. We pull a different one down every day. (I've heard of other people doing this once a week, or even seasonally.) More things are getting played with now, their attention spans on any given toy are quite a bit longer, and it does not take nearly so long to pick up the living room before Daddy gets home from work.

Don't be afraid to donate to charity toys that you don't want him to have or that he doesn't play with. (I say that, but I still have a lot of trouble with this myself!!!) There are plenty of kids out there who would be thrilled to have it.

"How do I not spoil and let him explore?"

Get it for him and leave it at your mom's. ;) Or outside. We just have too much wind here to leave ours outside. It would end up in Kansas!Mathochisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18238592153841235050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95933711137931634.post-327681763902932942007-04-29T11:50:00.000-06:002007-04-29T11:50:00.000-06:00Ander NEEDS one of those. NEEDS, I say. But I re...Ander NEEDS one of those. NEEDS, I say. But I refuse to get him one because he has too many toys already. Sigh.
